Malta is part of the Schengen zone. As such you can stay only for 90 days in any 180 day period. If your 90 days are used up you have to leave the Schengen zone for 90 days. That's it. No way around it, except apply for some sort of residence/work visa.

I may be home sooner than expected :(.
